Solar Power on the Go: How to Stack Panels on Your Roof Platform

⚡ Power Your Adventures – Anytime, Anywhere

Off-grid camping and 4WD touring are all about independence — and that starts with reliable power. In this blog, we dive into how you can maximize solar efficiency with stacked panel setups on your vehicle’s roof platform. Whether you're heading out for a weekend escape or a remote expedition, smart solar stacking ensures your batteries stay charged and your gear keeps running.

☀️ Why Stack Solar Panels?

Stacking solar panels is the smart solution when:

  • You want more wattage in less roof space

  • You travel with other bulky roof gear (awnings, tents, storage)

  • You need expandable solar setups for longer trips

  • You want modular systems for quick removal or adjustments

🧰 Introducing the R&R Solar Panel Stacker

We’re proud to offer the R&R Solar Panel Stacker Kit — a durable, lightweight mounting solution that helps you install multiple solar panels in a layered, secure layout on your existing roof platform or rack.

Key Features:

  • Universal-fit brackets for most 4WD platforms

  • Aluminium corrosion-resistant build

  • Quick-access design — easily clean or swap panels

🔧 How to Install It

  1. Choose your panel size (usually 110W–200W per panel)

  2. Measure your roof platform clearance & layout

  3. Bolt the lower stacker rails to your platform

  4. Mount the first solar panel flat onto the base

  5. Add stacker risers and second-tier rails on top

  6. Secure the second (or third) panel level

  7. Wire to your DCDC charger or solar controller system

🔋 Pro Tip: Use MC4 Y-connectors to parallel wire your panels without losing voltage. Make sure to fuse each array!
